Rules and Regulations

  • Revel Fest 2016 is open to all current RVHS students.

 

  • Sign-ups will open on Tuesday, 22nd March, 5pm.

 

  • Entries are divided into the following categories:

- Vocal Solo (English) 

- Vocal Solo (Chinese)    

- Vocal Group / Live Band

- Dance

 

  • Contestants are allowed to participate in one category only.

 

  • The finalists for Vocal Solo (English) and Vocal Solo (Chinese) categories in previous years’ Revel Fest are not allowed to participate in the same category this year.

 

  • Finalists for Group categories in previous years’ Revel Fest are not allowed to participate in the same category again this year unless they form a new group where less than half of the group comprises of finalists from previous years’ Revel Fest in the same category.

 

  • Group entries may comprise of students from different classes and different levels.

 

  • Contestants are allowed to change their choice of song or dance between auditions and semi-finals.

 

  • Contestants’ performance item for semi-finals and finals are to be similar but slight modifications or add-ons are allowed.

 

  • Revel Fest 2016 Organizing Committee members are not allowed to take part in this event.

  • The deadline for sign-ups is Sunday, 27th March, 5pm.

 

  • Late entries will not be entertained.

 

General Guidelines

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • For contestants competing in the Vocal Solo category,

- During auditions, contestants are to sing acapella.

- Only school attire is allowed during auditions.

- Background music only provided during semi-finals and finals.

- Contestants are responsible for sourcing their own music.

- Note: Self-composition earns you more marks!

 

  • For contestants competing in the Vocal Group/Live Band category,

- During auditions, contestants are to sing acapella.

- Only school attire is allowed during auditions.

- The group must comprise at least 2 but no more than 10 students.

- Background music only provided during semi-finals and finals.

 

  • For contestants competing in the Dance category,

- Contestants may perform dance of any form.

- The group must comprise at least 2 but no more than 10 students.

- During auditions, appropriate and simple dance attire is allowed.

- The Revel Fest 2016 Organizing Committee members reserve the right to request for contestants to change their attire if deemed necessary.

- Contestants are responsible for sourcing their own music.

 

  • No explicit, controversial or offensive lyrics or background music is allowed. All music used for performance items have to be appropriate and friendly.

 

  • Contestants participating in the dance category are to submit their song/track choice at least 3 days before the auditions.

 

  • Please note that use of profane language and/or actions during contestants’ performance is strictly not allowed. Immediate disciplinary action will be taken against contestants who fail to comply.

 

  • Should there be any changes to the song/track choice during the audition, the Revel Fest 2016 Organizing Committee members reserve the right to stop the audition.

 

  • Performance items involving dance should be kept decent and appropriate.

 

  • Judging for each category will entirely be based on the judges’ choices.

 

  • The judges’ decisions are final.

 

  • Piano and drums are provided, but contestants who are using other instruments are required to bring their own.  

 

  • Contestants are responsible for sourcing their own music.

 

  • Note: Self-composition earns you more marks!
